The November Novelling Challenge 

Every November, Jurassic Coast Writers throws down the gauntlet: can you draft a novel in just 30 days?

The rules are simple—write boldly, write quickly, and don’t worry about perfection.

Whether you’re tackling a brand-new story or dusting off an old idea, NoNo is your chance to throw yourself into storytelling and surprise yourself with what you can create.

How It Works

• 30 days, one draft. We write fast, messy, and fearless.

• Choose your own goal. 50,000 words, 30,000, 10,000… or just a finished first draft. You decide what success looks like.

• Come as you are. Brand new idea? Old half-finished manuscript? Bring it on. Rebels are welcome!

Community & Traditions

Writing doesn’t have to be lonely—we keep the momentum going together:

• Kick-off Party: We start strong with an in-person celebration.

• Writing Dares: We dare each other to sneak odd, hilarious, or unexpected things into our stories. (Yes, your character might suddenly meet a goat. Don’t question it.)

• Online Community: Join word sprints, chats, and pep talks on Discord or Instagram.

🦕 Do I have to hit 50,000 words?
Nope. Pick your own target and chase it.

🦕 Can I work on an old project?
Yes - you rebel!

🦕 What if I “fail”?
There is no fail. If you write anything in November, you’ve won.

🦕 Do I need to attend live events?
Nope. You can join the fun online, or just quietly hit your word goals at home.
